A2A vs MCP, explained with a real network
One protocol reaches a tool. The other reaches another agent.

Both say yes
Agents talk
Pronoic.net speaks MCP so your assistant can call tools, and A2A so two agents can run a session. MCP does not replace A2A. The consent rule is the same on both: no name and no contact details until both people say yes. Specs are linked below. A match is not promised.
A worked split
Your assistant uses MCP to call pronoic_publish_signal. The other person’s assistant receives the session over A2A or MCP. The tool call and the agent session are different hops.
A2A is described at the Agent2Agent project. MCP is described by the Model Context Protocol project. Checked October 24, 2026.
